Opportunity Zone reporting investors and regulators can rely on
Accurate reporting takes disciplined processes, complete records and careful coordination over many years. We organize the information behind required filings and help sponsors keep investors informed.
Why it matters
Reporting is where compliance becomes visible
OZ reporting draws on information from across the project: assets, income, deployment, ownership and timing. If any piece is missing or inconsistent, the filing and the investor’s confidence suffer.
OZ 2.0 adds new reporting obligations, which raises the bar for recordkeeping across the whole hold period.
What we do
Scope of work
Every engagement is scoped to the project. These are the areas we typically cover.
Filing support
Assembling and reconciling the information your tax preparer needs for fund-level and investor-level OZ filings.
Investor reporting
Periodic compliance updates for investors, written in plain language and consistent from period to period.
Reporting calendar
Tracking every filing and reporting date for the project, with reminders and ownership assigned well ahead of deadlines.
OZ 2.0 reporting readiness
Preparing the project’s data for the reporting requirements introduced by the 2025 legislation.
Alongside your advisors
Working with counsel, not in place of it
We don’t prepare tax returns. We work with your CPA so the information behind each filing is complete, consistent and documented.
Questions
Common questions
- What reporting does OZ 2.0 require?
- Funds must file an expanded annual return showing asset values on each testing date and, for each business they hold, details including its census tracts, owned and leased property, residential units and employees, plus investor dispositions (26 U.S.C. § 6039K). Businesses must furnish statements to their funds (§ 6039L). Failures carry penalties of $500 a day, up to $10,000 per return, or $50,000 for funds with more than $10 million in gross assets (§ 6726).
- When are QOZB statements to the fund due?
- Under proposed regulations published September 11, 2026, a business would furnish its statement by the first day of the second month after its year ends (February 1 for calendar-year businesses). The rule is proposed, not final (REG-116506-25).
- Do you prepare tax returns?
- No. We organize, reconcile and document the information behind each filing and statement, and work with your CPA, who prepares the returns.
